A smile makes everything brighter and better. For us people, it’s easy to recognize if someone is happy or not. A smile is a simple act that reflects your inner happiness. But how about for our pets, our four-legged best friend.
Do they smile just like how every pet owner claimed? Dogs, for example, can show in multiple ways that they are happy. They can be running around; jumping as high as they can or they ask you to play with them by giving you their toys. Simple yet truly heartwarming.
It’s a priceless feeling to go back home after a long tiring work knowing that when you open the door, someone is tirelessly waiting for you to play with them and give you unlimited kisses and hugs.
There are different scientific arguments and explanations about this so-called “jolly smile”. One thing is for sure, our pets may not have a human smile but they express their happiness in their own unique and pure way. As a pet owner, myself, I know and experienced my dog smiled back at me multiple times. It’s a special moment and bond between me and her.
A smiling dog is when their facial muscles are relaxed. Their mouth is open and some teeth are showing. Not all expressions like this are portraying a happy dog. You also have to correlate it with another body language. Dogs are very expressive. Someone can instantly tell if your dog is happy or not. They communicate to us through their actions: wagging of the tail, barking, howl, and many other inexplicably cute ways.
Most of the time, people think that owning a dog is a huge “responsibility.” How about instead of looking at it as a duty, think of it as a privilege.
You will have the chance of a lifetime to love a non-human creature who is capable of loving you back. Make their life happy and worth it. Let them smile and enjoy life to the fullest!
